Nourishing the body is an act of great care and it extends far beyond what we consume and into how we engage with food as a whole.
Before industrial agriculture and commodity production growing food was a communion between the plants, animals and elements of nature.
So, how do we return to right relationship with the food we eat and the bodies that carry us?
When we disconnected from the soil beneath our feet, from planting a seed and from those who nourish communities, we lost our ability to hold gratitude for what sustains us.
Maybe even simple acts of remembrance can be a cascade of revolutionary change.
Return to the miracle of soil. When we engage with the ground beneath us through our feet, our hands, our skin, even our sense of smell we tune our biology back into the greater web of life. Whenever possible, let soil be remembered as one of the greatest “biohacks” we are gifted to receive.
Grow something. A full garden or community plot may not be accessible to everyone, yet even a simple mint plant can reawaken our senses to the miracle of life itself. Touching the soil, offering gratitude to the seed and honoring the water and sun that sustain it are pathways back to reciprocal, intentional living.
Engage with local farmers. Regenerative farming movements are thriving in many communities, though they often go unseen. There are people actively restoring land, health, and food systems and it is up to us to consciously support regeneration over convenience.
Connect to your food. Even grocery store food can be met with gratitude, transforming the energetic imprint it carries. Rather tha consuming out of habit, what if we retired intention to cooking and eating as an act of ceremony?
